My Updated Nighttime and Morning Routine

Since we have been spending so much time at home, I’ve made a point to improve my nighttime and morning routine so I’m set up for a good night’s sleep and a productive morning.

If I’m being honest, I was regularly going to bed waaaay too late. Many of you know I like to wake up before my family, so going to bed past 11:00 p.m. and waking up at 5:00 a.m. was taking its toll. I decided to commit to creating better habits and change up my routine in order to feel my best.

I have been doing the below steps for a few months now and I feel SOOOOO much better! Check them out to see if there’s something that can work for you!

BEDTIME ROUTINE

I always wash my face while Roux is in the bath. [I take my shower in the morning after my workout.] I’ve detailed all of my favorite products here. Below is a breakdown of the steps I take to keep my skin looking and feeling fresh!

After skincare, it’s time for pajamas! I put jammies on at the same time as Roux every night. It signals my brain that it’s time to start settling down. Stay tuned for my favorite jammies and loungewear in next week’s post!

Post-jammies, I tidy up. We head back into the living room for a quick toy pick up so we all wake up to a clean house.

Then we do Roux’s bedtime routine. Let me know in the comments if you’re interested in hearing more about this!

Then I head into the kitchen to load the dishwasher. I put it on a four-hour delayed start so it’s finished when we wake up in the morning.

I then take a couple of minutes to glance at my planner to identify the next day’s priorities. That way I can mentally prep for what’s to come.

Loren and I watch one episode of a show each night. Here are a few of our recent favorites: The Right Stuff [Disney+], The Tudors (I’m late to the disturbing drama party!) [Netflix], The Expanse [Amazon Prime]. I’m also still grieving the fact that we’ve finished The Morning Show [Apple TV]!

After we watch just one episode [this is important], I head back into the bedroom to brush my teeth. This is always around 9:00 or 9:30 p.m.

I finally hop into bed to read for about 10 minutes.

To further calm my mind, I do a 15-minute meditation via HATCH RESTORE or my UNSTRESS program in my Fit Camp digital fitness library. This helps me to decompress fully and fall asleep!

Morning Routine

I’ve been using the Morning Routine Habit Tracker app to keep track of my mornings. This has helped me stay on track and build better habits that I truly look forward to now.

I wake up around 4:30 a.m. every morning. The first thing I do is get dressed in workout gear. Putting on clothes I love really motivates me to get moving.

I listen to personal affirmations from my ThinkUp app while I get dressed. I listen to a personal development audio book on audible while I drink water.

Then I grab my Pre Workout. I drink this as I say hey to my Instagram family and Fit Camp girls. If you follow me, you have likely seen me prep my fav drinks on my stories!

Then I get a quick workout in.

Post-workout, I grab my go-to coffee of the week. As I drink my coffee I do my Bible Study which often includes a devotional from She Reads Truth.

I like to write my gratitude statements every morning in a special spot in my planner, however, I did find this app that looks cute for those who prefer digital tracking!

Then I pray.

I do a Left-Handed Statement every morning. It’s not proven science, but it’s thought to strengthen neural connections in your brain & tap in to more creativity by challenging your way – who knows, but I like it. I write “I am worthy” with my non-dominate hand every morning.

Next up I review my priorities and make a plan for the day. You can take a look at How I Time Block My Day here.

I quickly read a personal development book for 10 minutes before my family wakes up and my day starts moving quickly!

These steps help me to create a grounded headspace for a successful and productive day. Knowing I have a nighttime routine to look forward to keeps me motivated and focused even amongst the general chaos of life!

Let me know in the comments if any of these steps resonate with you OR if you have added new steps to your routine that has been a game-changer! I LOVE trying out new activities in my routine so please leave comments below!
