5 Healthy Habits To Add To Your Routine

In the midst of what I like to call GOAL SEASON (my fellow entrepreneurs know what I’m talking about), I sometimes feel my body telling me to slow down and take a break. As you mamas know,  mommin’ hard and chasing dreams can really take a toll on your body! In the midst of all the chaos, I always come back to these FREE healthy habits that keep me on track!

DRINK WATER

This is healthy habit 101!! When I wake up, the first thing I do is drink at least 16 oz. of water out of my Yeti. Ya’ll know I love my pre-workout and my coffee, but in order to start the day off on the right foot, I hydrate. There is nothing better for your body or skin than good ol’ water! Remember the MAIN goal is to take your weight, divide that by two and drink THAT amount in ounces each day. Try to set mini-goals for yourself. Like, X amount of ounces before coffee, X amount before lunch. I promise it will help!

WASH YOUR FACE

Every. Single. Night. be sure to wash your face! We’re all tired, but washing your face each night keeps your skin fresh and prepares you for a good night’s sleep. My go-to line right now is Tula — I love SO MANY of the products. I also like to use some extras like my depuffing facial roller, spot treatment for any blemishes, and toners at least a few days a week. My favs are all detailed in this post.

MOVE YOUR BODY

You all know I’m a big fan of waking up before Loren and Roux to get my workout in before my house is awake. None of us have time, but we have to MAKE TIME. Try and move your body for at least 30 minutes a day. This can be walking, HIIT, doing Beachbody home workouts with my virtual fit camp — whatever fits your lifestyle! Find something you love and get moving. No one actually LOVES waking up early. It’s ALWAYS tough at first to develop the habit. I promise you, once you see how PRODUCTIVE your day is AND find room for some downtime, you will fall in love.

I’ve even converted Loren to an early riser most days – that is a miracle. This is something for YOU. Yes, waking up at 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. might sound like personal torture right now. BUT, when you sip on that HOT cup of coffee by yourself post-workout, you will be a LIFER!

FIND QUIET TIME

This is my favorite healthy habit I added to my routine! Amid the madness, it’s important to find a moment of clarity. Try and build 15 to 30 minutes of quiet time into your day. A few things I like to do:

  • Devotional – my favs are First Five and She Reads Truth [I’m currently working through the subscription boxes!]
  • Gratitude – I love the Bloom App for guided exercises or I just jot down a few notes in my Plum planner [there are so many gratitude journals these days, do what works for you]
  • Meditation – The Bloom App has been my go-to for guided meditations. I have also been enjoying Simple Habit & Headspace for more mindful exercises and meditations!
EAT MINDFULLY

Meal prep can feel hard and can be overwhelming, so I like to focus on having an idea of what I’m going to eat. If I know I’m going to eat out twice in one week, I make sure my fridge is stocked with healthy [pre-washed] veggies for me to build a delicious salad at home when I’m not eating out. I also have lots of healthy GRAB+GO items in the fridge. I like to always have washed fruit, hard-boiled eggs, my superfood smoothie, healthy snack BEACHBARS, prepped turkey sloppy joes, or simple taco ingredients.

Something that really helps me is taking the berries OUT of their original plastic container. I wash them and put them in an open container in the fridge. This really helps me to easily grab a handful for a snack etc. I also keep all fresh produce OUT of the fridge drawers. If it’s eye level and out, I’m way more likely to snack on it. Sometimes I go day-by-day, sometimes I take a look at my whole week. It just depends on my current fitness goals.

If I’m scheduling my week, I start with planning dinners and then work backward. I make sure I’m incorporating whatever simple MEAL PLAN I’m following from my virtual fit camp. No matter what, I always have an idea of what I’m going to eat so I don’t find myself grabbing kid’s popcorn mindlessly throughout the day!

I would love to hear, what are some healthy habits you incorporate into your daily routine to stay on track? Did one of my tips above help you? Is there one that you want to focus more on this month? Let me know in the comments below!
