5 Tips For Staying Motivated Over The Holidays

I know it can hard to stay motivated over the holidays. Routines are thrown off, food seems to be everywhere, there’s a lot of additional stress due to family gatherings or lack thereof!

I know when things get out of wack, it’s easy to just throw in the towel and try again in the new year. But it doesn’t have to be that way!

I put together 5 tips for you to stay motivated and help you end the year strong. These are the same steps I follow so I don’t feel like I need a major reset in 2021. I hope they help you have a different outlook this holiday season!

1. Mix Up your Routine – try to keep your time commitment in mind

I always change up my workout to include a very TIME efficient home workout because I know I am extremely busy while hosting and preparing for the holidays. I can stick to a 20 minute ALL OUT workout 5 days a week and not flounder from an overzealous commitment to a long sweat sesh!

2. Stay Mindful of Food Choices – but allow yourself to enjoy your favorite parts of the season too

I know myself. I’m going to enjoy sweet treats during the holidays. I also know that I tend to AVOID SALADS AT ALL COST. It’s ridiculous, I know. I find DELICIOUS SALADS that I will actually look forward to and make it a goal to eat one great salad a day through the holiday season.

I do not have guilt around the treats and feel good about dedicating myself to the #greenlife at least once a day. Also, can you make some healthier swaps? For example, we are a CANDY FAMILY. I love Smart Sweets [not endorsed] for this very reason. We can enjoy candy – but the healthier kind! [they did give me a discount code for you guys – because I love them so much – so feel free to use it!]

3. Rise & Shine, Girl!

I’m telling you, just commit to EARLY MORNING workouts during the holiday season. It will feel SO SATISFYING to be done moving your body before your family even wakes up. The hardest part is actually getting out of bed. So set your alarm/phone somewhere across the room so you have to get up.

Use the Mel Robbins technique to stay motivated as soon as your alarm goes off – say to yourself: “3, 2, 1” and then GET UP. Your workout is done and whatever your day has for you next – has your FULL attention. Your endorphins will be raging, you will be proud of yourself for following through, and that alone time is a certain type of special especially in such a busy time. You might even have time to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a book… gasp!

4. Have a SIMPLE Plan to Follow

Sometimes knowing WHAT to do is most of the “battle.” Just tell me what to do and I’m here for it. I see so many girls struggle in their health and fitness journey because they are not sure where to start or how to organize their routine. My Fit Camp does all of this. I have a simple workout calendar. I push PLAY on the workout of the day on my phone or smart TV. Even my meal plan tells me what to eat, how to allow for special treats, and what portions to stick to.

Having a simple plan to follow – without having to wait for someone else to tell me what to do – IS EVERYTHING for me. Lay it out for me, and I’ll take it from there! If you need help with this – final enrollment for our December virtual Fit Camp is this week! Just email me back, I got you, girl.

5. Have a Supportive GIRL SQUAD + Accountability

My app community gives me the accountability + support I need because we are all syncing our workouts + tracking our progress together. This virtual GIRL SQUAD is such a breath of fresh air – it’s friends, but it’s fitness, and it’s positive – all the best things.

Another thing I do is peer pressure my family to do a home workout with me on holiday mornings! It’s fun, and no, not everyone will agree, but really all you need is one person to say yes and you are 100% more likely to follow through with a quick + festive workout. My husband, mother-in-law, and sisters usually all say YES!! It becomes a fun family memory too.

If you need some help being held accountable and stay motivated I would LOVE if you joined my December Fit Camp! Just click here to opt-in. Helping people reach their goals brings me so much joy so I would be THRILLED if you joined us!
