14 Days of Home Organizing

Since we’re all stuck inside, I thought it would be a great time to do some home organizing! Below are the 14 items in my home I plan on organizing over the next few weeks. I plan on doing one task each day. Some are bigger than others but all are HUGE accomplishments.

Clean Makeup Brushes

Apparently, we’re supposed to clean our makeup brushes once a week. If you’re guilty of putting hit off like I am…use one day to clean those brushes and save your skin! I’ve used a few different kinds over the years – but currently, this is my fav! SO EASY!

Give Dogs a Bath

We have four different kinds of animals, so keeping up with their bath schedule is no joke. Here is the shampoo I love for my pups!

Fill a Bag to Donate

I regularly clean out my closet to donate unwanted/unused clothes but I forget about all of the other items we have that other families can benefit from! We’re going through Roux’s toys, our home decor and kitchen items to declutter our space and hopefully enhance someone else’s.

Organize Pantry

I recently did an overhaul to our pantry — if you watched my Insta stories a few months ago, you know the drama! I plan on giving you guys all the deets on the pantry organizers I used, but for now, I’m looking to get rid of expired food and tidy up our current space. This type of home organizing helps things feel really together!

Wash Couch Cushions & Pillow Cases

Who doesn’t love the feeling of clean couches and pillows?! I like to start a load of linens like this early in the morning when we plan to be outside or out of the house for a while – that way we aren’t awkwardly trying to sit on bare cushions. We have 4 animals – so… A CLEAN COUCH is heavenly!

Store Off-Season Clothes

The seasons are changing, so time to put away coats and sweaters and bring out light layers! When I lived in Virginia and actually saw seasons change – I stored our winter clothes in these. With a toddler in the house, I go through his clothes every few months and store away anything he has outgrown. I love using these Ziplock Storage bags for his stuff.

Change A/C Vent Filters

This only takes a few minutes but it’s so important to stay on top of it! Do it now, because we all know we will be much busier in the coming months.

Declutter One Closet

We all have different storage spaces in our house that fill up fast (i.e. kids outgrowing allllll the clothes!) It’s overwhelming to tackle every closet in the house, so just pick one, even if it’s the ‘easiest’ one. You’ll feel so much lighter, you might even have the energy to tackle two in one day! Home organizing WIN!

Wipe Clean Silverware

This is another quick task that only takes a few minutes. Remove all utensils and wipe down the silverware separator with Lysol! You can’t imagine the number of crumbs you’ll get out of there. I also saw this fun article about weird tricks to polish silver, maybe it’s time to try one of those!

Steam-Clean or Spot Clean Carpets

Pets + Toddler = dirty carpets! To keep our house looking a bit more put together, I like to go over all of our carpets with this spot cleaner. It’s a lifesaver and gets out EVERYTHING! I’ve also heard that Folex is a very popular spot-cleaning brand I might have to try out.

Deep Clean Fridge

The dreaded fridge clean! Do this first thing in the morning and I promise it will brighten your day to open a CLEAN fridge all day long.

Wash Cat Little Box

Quick, painless and so necessary!

Deep Clean and Disinfect Toys

Roux’s toys can always use a good clean. After I go through his toys to donate, I like to disinfect + wipe down the ones that are left. They’re as good as new, right?!

Wash Pet Food/Water Bowls

Don’t forget to keep your pets healthy! A good scrub of your pet’s water bowls is always worthwhile.
